I do not know how many of you out there need to hear this today, but I am going to start this blog out with YOU ARE WORTHY, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, YOU DESERVE THE ENTIRE WORLD!
Let's talk #domesticviolence because I am a #survivor and I want you all to know that you can be too! October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, so why not? :-) This is a bigger issue in this world than more people realize and it is much more common that we'd like to admit! According to the CDC, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience physical violence by their intimate partner at some point during their lifetimes. The state that is most common for domestic violence is Alaska! Needless to say 25% of the population has experienced this treatment on some kind of level!
I am typing this with a heavy heart because I know exactly what it feels like to think you are worthless and think that all you deserve is the abuse that you get. Even though there are days that may be wonderful, a partner that is toxic enough to hurt you once, will likely do this again! - It is NOT ALWAYS true, but the majority of the time it is! I have seen a few cases where girls have ended up in the hospital, despite being told warning stories from ex girlfriends or even the red flags that pop up when the abuse starts! The #TRUTH is; you are NOT alone, you #DESERVE so much better, there IS happiness on the other side of the heart break, you can #ESCAPE the dark world that you are living in! Find the courage to tell someone, take the necessary precautions to ensure that you are safe! Go downtown and get a no contact order/restraining order - not that the paper will always keep that person away, but it is a great step. DO NOT DO THIS #ALONE! Tell someone, because likely the aggressor will not hurt you in front of a family member and if they do - there will be someone there to help protect you, call the cops and they will get thrown in jail, even if that means for the night, they will sit there while you have a few hours to BUST your butt and get your stuff out or change the locks, etc.
I want to #EMPOWER those of you out there that are in a sticky situation to stand up and get out, before the situation gets so bad that you cannot get out of it. I am here to say that I thankfully got out of a situation that was unhealthy and I am so beyond thankful that I did. Life is so #DIFFERENT when you actually #LIVE it, rather than just exist and live based on the expectation of someone else's standard. 9 times out of 10 we stick around in a relationship for the wrong reasons or because we want the person that we are with to change and feel like they actually will or maybe we really think we are in love with them - truth is IT IS NOT #TRUELOVE! I promise, do yourself the #BIGGESTFAVOR of your life and then focus on yourself and healing for awhile before jumping into a relationship with someone else! There is someone in this world that will treat you like the queen or king that you deserve to be treated like! There is someone that would do anything in this world to protect you, someone to wipe the tears from your eyes rather than make them and someone that is going to meet you HALF WAY in the middle so that you are not putting forth all of the effort, I PROMISE!
Please, if you or a loved one is struggling with #Domestic Violence, I would love to hear your story and help give you tips to get out of your situation!
As always, the domestic abuse #hotline is 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)! Please #REACH OUT and get yourself help! There is #HAPPINESS on the other side, I PROMISE!
